Prognosis error: "Process is over restart limit" - what to do

When Prognosis Process Manager irpromgs / IRPROMGR finds a process stopped unexpectedly then it will try to restart it. If the process does not stay running after 4 of these restart attempts in 10 minutes then Process Manager will stop trying and log this error.

11:46:11 irpromgs ... - Process stop detected. Trying to restart. PROCESS : PROCESS
11:48:06 irpromgs ... - Process stop detected. Trying to restart. PROCESS : PROCESS
11:50:01 irpromgs ... - Process stop detected. Trying to restart. PROCESS : PROCESS
11:51:57 irpromgs ... - Process stop detected. Trying to restart. PROCESS : PROCESS
11:53:54 irpromgs ... - Process is over restart limit PROCESS : PROCESS

Solution: Firstly try start it again as the cause could have already gone away. Simply open the PROGNOSIS Configuration and click Start (No changes needed) (or restart the Prognosis service if that's easier).
Temporary causes are mostly environmental and external to Prognosis - a brief excessive depletion or congestion of a resource like CPU, memory, disk space/IO, network IO, another VM guest taking excessive resources or so on.

If it still goes down in this same way then see if preceding error events indicate the cause such as memory limit exceeded for example. Address the cause and try again clicking Start in PROGNOSSI config.

Make sure to open a help request case with IR Support and include an irfax if you need assistance with it.
