Email Alert destination software upgrade

Prognosis 10.3 is programmed to sent Avaya alert to Exchange 2016. Will there be any impact if we migrate to Exchange 2019. Since existing configuration of Prognosis and Exchange sever is handled by others, please kindly share information on how to configurate both server for this changes.

Re: Email Alert destination software upgrade

Hello PL,

The DISPMAN configuration for using an Exchange server as an email relay is the same in Prognosis 11.7 as in Prognosis 10.3. Please use this Prognosis Online Help page for reference: Email Tab - Dispatch Manager

The main focus items are:

  • Use the new email server name or IP address in the "SMTP Server" field.
  • Ensure the new Exchange 2019 server allows the mail relay function messages from the Prognosis servers.

Please also note: Prognosis 10.3 is at end of life and a conversation with the Account Manager about upgrading should be scheduled as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Scott Baldwin

Re: Email Alert destination software upgrade

Thank you for your information. While in the email tab, please advise what is the usage and purpose of incoming pop server. As for outgoing server, it make use of Exchange relay function to send message and exchange mailbox is not required, so how about the pop server.

Thanks

Re: Email Alert destination software upgrade

Hello PL,

The POP email function in the Email tab of DISPMAN is used only for incoming (receiving) emails in to Prognosis. The POP email server section is not used to send emails.

The "email relay" function in Exchange is the process used by Prognosis to send emails. This is on the top half of the Email tab of DISPMAN and is the one needed for Prognosis to send email alerts.

Thank you,

Scott Baldwin
