Why is there not a default node option in the Managed node screen

Hi There,

I'm going to try and explain to you guys the best I can, English not my fist language

When I build Prognosis screens it normally range from 6 to about 30 smaller displays within one display, depending on what we want to see.

When building a screen with 30 smaller displays in 1 prognosis screen I drag the Node on the screen to see if any data is filtering through

The problem is that it sets all the 30 smaller screens to that specific nonstop server.

When I want to send the document to web, I need to go through each screen and set it back to default node, before I send to web.

Is there not a way you can add the default node setting into Manage Node workspace. It would make it so much easier than converting 30 screens back to default node, if you can drag it onto the screen as well

Thanks

Re: Why is there not a default node option in the Managed node screen

Hi Leon,

When you build a window in a display, it is set to "default node" initially unless you hard code the window to a specific setting (such as "entire network"). When you drag a node onto the display workspace, you are telling the display windows to change from "default" to the node that is dragged/dropped onto the screen. If you save the display after you've dragged a node onto the screen then it will be saved with the node details hard coded to the windows.

To work around this, create your display windows and save a copy of it before you drag the node onto the window. This can be done by clicking the disk icon under "file" in the GUI toolbar.
Once you drag the node onto the window to validate data, close the display and select "no" when Prognosis asks if you'd like to save changes to "x" display.

Keep in mind that you will need to do this each time you add a new window to the display.

Hope this helps!

Hi.

I know what you telling me is good practice, but sometimes one do forget and before you know it, you need to go into all the sceens one by one.

What I asking is that one would have an option to drag the default node onto the screens to adjust the nodes to default again.

Leon,

If I read your question correctly (and please do correct me if I am misunderstanding) is that ideally you want to be able to utilize the default node function by dragging the specific node onto the display at the same time not set every window to the node you dragged over in the IRGUI client.

Those you want to preserve and not be affected by the dragging over of your node onto the display you should set this option in those windows to protect them from the drag re-nodeing.

"Don't substitute nodes from parent document".
