Which ports and protocols are used by Prognosis?
PROGNOSIS reserves the use of a number of ports; starting from the port number specified in the NETWORK configuration, through to that port number plus six. The ports used are:

<PortNumber>+1 Default 1961 IRPROMGR TCP Control by Process Manager on local node.
<PortNumber>+2 Default 1962 IRNETRTR UDP Autodiscovery via multicast
<PortNumber>+3 Default 1963 N/A N/A Port no longer used.
<PortNumber>+4 Default 1964 IRLSTNR TCP Tivoli Integration interface
<PortNumber>+5 Default 1965 IRWASP TCP Web Interface listening for connections from a web server.
<PortNumber>+6 Default 1966 IRJVMCOL TCP Listening port for connections from JVM probe (HP NonStop only)
<PortNumber>+0: Used for router-to-router, local process to router and GUI to router communications where TCP/IP is used. ie, all requests and data messages are sent via this port. This is the port that the GUI connects to. On HP NonStop, IPC is used for internal messaging, messaging to other HP NonStop nodes, and Auto-Discovery of other HP NonStop nodes. Therefore, on HP NonStop, this port is only used for GUI connections and cross platform (Windows and UNIX) connections.
<PortNumber>+1: Used for connections to Process Manager (IRPROMGR) in order to detect process failures and to instigate process restarts. Local communications only. On HP NonStop this function is performed via IPC, so this port is not used.
<PortNumber>+2: Used to send and receive Auto-Discovery multicasts (UDP protocol). Auto-Discovery between HP NonStop nodes is done via IPC, but this port is still used on HP NonStop for Auto-Discovery of cross platform systems. This port is not used if Auto-Discovery is disabled (eg, if Managing
-Nodes are used).
<PortNumber>+3: No longer used by PROGNOSIS.
<PortNumber>+4: Used by Tivoli integration interface.
<PortNumber>+5: Used by the PROGNOSIS Web Interface to listen for connections from a Web Server. Note that by default, the port number for the web interface is the base port '+5', but this can be seperately specified in the WWW configuration to an entirely different number.
<PortNumber>+6: Listening port for connections from JVM probe (HP NonStop only).
In addition within the Windows environment the NTDHCP record utilises the PING command to provide data.
It is also worth noting that if you are unsure of any port traffic then the MPPORTOPEN may assist in determining its origin. The TCP/UDP Port Open Record shows TCP and UDP ports currently open on the system. A PORTOPEN record may exist for both listening and connected IP address pairs. The PORTOPEN record also identifies the process which has the port open.
