how to search last 2 days of transactions for PANs from TRANDET TransactionDetail record in Transaction Surveillance

Hi,

This came up so I thought I'd share a few tips.

The system you're monitoring may have a lot of payments transactions going through it, even more than 100TPS for some. With transaction surveillance there is a row of TRANDET record for every single transaction. 'Great' we may say, with all that data at our finger tips. However launching a Prognosis display etc with a where clause of ALL could hit our Prognosis monitoring node and network too hard to return 10s of thousands of rows in one hit. How can we, for example, search the past few days worth of transactions for particular PANs, for example. Here's a high level approach.

- On the Windows managing node, create a database collection with a reasonable interval, say 1 minute and increase the limit to higher than the highest TPSx60;
- Then the Where clause in it of something like "LOGTIME > CurrentTime - 1 Minute"
- Then we can run a report display on the database collection, call it something like "PAN Search of Last 2 days" with a where clause like "PAN contains #PANSearch".
- The #PANSearch part makes the display pop up a prompt for us to enter the PAN we want to search for, usually in the masked format 1234...123.
The irdbase.exe process on the managing node should be able to handle the search using CPU power on the managing node and therefore not impacting the monitoring node.
Make sure to open a 'how to' case with Support if needed to get more tips of things you can try.
