How to monitor the record count within a guardian file?

Is there a way to monitor the number of records of a file from prognosis?  At the moment doing the FUP info _____ , stat commands is the way we get the information.

Re: How to monitor the record count within a guardian file?

Hi Jerry,

Prognosis does not provide the record count for a file out of the box. This can be quite an expensive operation, so does need to be used selectively. This is why it is not built into records like FILEDET, for instance.

Having said that, I understand that there are customers who use an extractor to periodically run a FUP INFO, STAT on selected files and pull the results into Prognosis. Extractor is part of the Application Development Interface and can be used to pull additional data from files or from the results of commands into Prognosis.

If you want to explore this path, your local IR team should be able to point you in the right direction.
