upgrading from 10.4 to 11.4 - do I run the risk of losing information in databases?

Good evening.
I have installed version 10.4 and on a server 11.4 if I install the latest version locally, I run the risk of losing information? What should I know how to handle in case the database of version 10.4 is lost?
Thank you
