upgrade precaution for upgrading to Prognosis 11.9 from Prognosis 11.x on Windows

Any extra upgrade precautions that should help achieve a successful upgrade to Prognosis 11.9?

Re: upgrade precaution for upgrading to Prognosis 11.9 from Prognosis 11.x on Windows

We are seeing some instances where some RabbitMQ processes will continue to run during the upgrade process, despite having stopped the RabbitMQ service. This can prevent the Installer from updating these RabbitMQ components during the upgrade and cause the upgrade to fail.

Please note that this issue only affects Prognosis upgrade from 11.x to 11.9 on Windows where it has the RabbitMQ component which is used for Alert CI mapping, Alert Suppression, Alerting via AMQP, Configuration Item Mapping, CRA Media Integrity, or Skype for Business monitoring.

To avoid this issue, you need to follow these steps before commencing the 11.9 upgrade:

  • Stop the Prognosis RabbitMQ service via services.msc.
  • Once RabbitMQ has shut down, start taskmanager (taskmgr.exe) and terminate any of the following processes if they are running:
         erl.exe
         erlsrv.exe
         epmd.exe
  • You can then run "prognosis-11.9.0-windows-x64.exe" to begin the upgrade process.

Please see the Online Help for further important steps to take as part of upgrading Prognosis.

If you're still unsure please feel free to contact your local Support team.
