Hi there,
I was looking for instructions on how to set up Prognosis so it starts up whenever servers are rebooted (AIX in this case). I've checked "Deployment and Installation Guide - Prognosis 11.5" but it does not have any notes on 'inittab' (AIX file that contains startup scripts). Wonder if anyone could provide some pointers on where to look.. Thank you.
Hi Francisco,
Thank you for your query.
Prognosis for Aix no longer uses the inittab script to start up Prognosis service after server reboot. Prognosis uses the rc. * system approach to automate the startup and shutdown of Prognosis. This is an option during the installation, which runs the enableprogboot script if you select it.
Hope this helps.
Regards
David
Thank you very much David for your reply. We have Prognosis running for years in AIX. At some point in the past, a startup script was placed in the inittab; it's still there today and working in many AIX servers(AIX 7.2). More recently installed servers though do not have that entry in inittab and they fail to start up Prognosis after reboots. So as part of troubleshooting this problem our Perf. team here is trying to find out how/where exactly to place those scripts..that's the reason we were trying to to find any IR documention about the topic. But thanks a lot for your note. We're working with our Sysadmin team and will get their input on using "enableprogboot".
Regards,
Francisco
You are welcome Francisco. If you need further assistance on setting it up or have queries about the script please let us know.
Best regards
David
