PostgreSQL Not Permitted

Does the WEBUI  require PostgreSQL  be installed on the Windows server in order  to work ?

Since PostgreSQL  has been tagges as Not-Permitted-Technology ....Is there any configuration  or other alternative  to have the WEBUI function without it .???

Re: PostgreSQL Not Permitted

Hello @Ken_NAVARRETTE,

Yes, the Postgres service and function needs to be running in order to  allow a user to login to the Web UI.

There have been updates to the Postgres part of Prognosis Platform over time to address security issues as they have been discovered.

Prognosis 11.9 uses Postgres 10.10 which has addressed most of the security conerns. Postgres can be updated to 10.16 to address remaining concerns using this Online Help page: Upgrade to the Latest Version of PostgreSQL.

Prognosis 12.0 is expected to be released around June 2021 and will include even more security updates for Postgres.

If additional work on this item is needed, please open a Support Case to work directly with a Support Engineer.

Thank you,

Re: PostgreSQL Not Permitted

Hello @Ken_NAVARRETTE,

Based on past work with with trying to upgrade Postgres 10.x to a new release (such as 11, 12 or 13) in newer versions of Prognosis, I would expect the Postgres version 9.6 running on Prognosis 11.4 could only be upgraded to the latest version Postgres 9.6.x (which is Postgres 9.6.21).

If a version of Postgres more security provided by Postgres 9.6.21 is needed, then the Prognosis version will need to be upgraded as well.

Thank you,
Scott Baldwin
