Information Related ports

Hi Team,

I had some doubts related to ports.

from the prognosis website I can see that the base port is 1960.

I wanted to know does Prognosis need the ports in the range 1900-1960 and does all the 60 ports are on TLS?

Thanks,

Kashyap.

Re: Information Related ports

Hi @kashyap ,

Prognosis reserves the port 1960 - 1966 for inter-node connections by default, this can be changed in NETWORK configuration. Depending on the systems you are monitoring, other ports will be required. Plese see more details in the Online help and the specific configuration documentation for the system.

Port Requirements (prognosis.com)

For TLS please see details in below link. Prognosis supports TLS 1.2.

SSL/TLS Versions (prognosis.com)

Hope this helps.

Regards

David

Re: Information Related ports

Hi @kashyap ,

Standard Prognosis release does not require port 1900 - 1959.

In customer's case if these ports are required to be open for outbound traffic, it is possible there is custom solution in place which is needing them, but this will need check and confirmation. I would suggest please log a support case with the latest irfax from the server where the ports are required to open for our review. You might also check with customer whether they are aware of any custom solutions deployed.

In addition, ports 1960-1966 are used by Prognosis and all traffic is encrypted in flight. Prognosis will discard unexpected requests/messages.

Thank you

David

Re: Information Related ports

Hi @David_Sun ,

I had some doubts, you mentioned that prognosis reserves from port 1960-1966 for internode connectivity.

But I mentioned ports from 1900-1960.

I had a request from my client regarding prognosis stating that  "I saw that ports 1900-1960 are needed outbound. Why? Opening up those ports is tantamount to giving up on an application being able to secure, in my opinion. TLS, TLS, TLS, that’s it. Please explain if I’ve missed something."

can you let me know about port 1900-1960 and i can see port 1960 is inbound.

Thanks,

Kashyap.
