Question:
I need to collect data into ODBC format database, how can I ensure the database connection password is encrypted and secured in Prognosis?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Prognosis ODBC database collection has the feature of utilizing the PASSWORDS static configuration function to encrypt the password for the ODBC database collection.
When setup the database collection document, as below, in the User Name field, if the actual ODBC connection user name is entered directly here, then its password will need to be entered in the Password field, as a result the text dump of this database collection document (eg, in Irfax) will show the password in plain text.
In order to mask the password, the passwordkey can be used followed by the alias for the connection user name in PASSWORDS configuration, for example, passwordkey:MyODBC, and leave the Password field blank. Then add the entry of MyODBC into the PASSWORDS configuration (eg, DB:MyODBC), and enter the real connection user name and password. The password will be encrypted in the text dump of the PASSWORDS configuration.
