Please advise what is the best practice for the Prognosis servers backup? Are the all given prognosis servers support VMware snapshot backup and restore from snapshot? Is there any challenges to do monthly MS windows security patches in prognosis servers?
We have the following servers:
Prognosis documentation covers the standard backup and restore procedure, here:
(search for "Manual Backup and Rollback Procedures for MS Windows" )
However, numerous customers have used your technique of VMware snapshots without any problems.
Finally, MS security patches are rolled out by the majority of customers while almost never having an issue.
if the database server is running SQL rather than Prognosis it would not be covered by the standard Prognosis backup documentation and so you may wish to consult with your database administrator or your IR account manager to determine the best way to backup/restore it.
Can we configure the prognosis for daily Automatic scheduled backup? If, yes can you please send a detailed procedure.
I have seen problems where Prognosis had to be uninstalled and resinstalled because of a lack of back ups. Prognosis should be treated like any other important app where you would want to back up the server. The Prognosis back method mentioned previously is good to do and can scheduled to run automatically by running commands from a .bat file. Other than that, you can use any existing back up solutions to back up the Prognosis servers or at least all the \Prognosis* folders.
Here I'm not referring to backup procedure during the upgrade or migration.
We are looking to configure an automatic daily scheduled backup without executing any commands manually if in case of any outages or server may get crashed we need to restore the configuration as it is.
Could you please provide any detailed information about how to configure this
Thank you for the information yes me too looking for a daily/weekly/Monthly schdueled backup like other VMware servers in our environment by netbackup or Cohesity.
Please let know if it is supported.
Having looked at the planning phase in session one of this series, we will turn our focus to the readiness phase. The all important technical capabilities assessment, ensuring the network, endpoints and users are adequately prepared for the move.
