Accessing the webUI using http/80 instead of https/443 (i.e. disabling SSL)

I'd like to be able to access the webUI using http, not https.  Or have the option of both as I understan disabling https might break some restful things.     Any thoughts on the matter?

P.S. Yes, I am aware that https is preferred for securty reasons etc.

Re: Accessing the webUI using http/80 instead of https/443 (i.e. disabling SSL)

Hello Hank,

Thank you for reaching out with your question.

You are correct the recommended method to accessing the WebUI is via HTTPS.  This cannot be changed due to:

  • SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) are enforced repeatedly by multiple Prognosis files.
  • A secure login (https) is also enforced by Prognosis to prevent damaging any of the devices Prognosis Monitors.
    • If https is not enforced, anyone accessing the Prognosis page can remove, alter, or change polling of any device.

A request can be made to our Product Deployment team to request opening http, but keep in mind this request will need to be approved by development.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Dale

Thanks Dale, I figured as much.  I'll do some jedi magic and get around the issue.  My use case is unique and doesent warrant a request to development.
