Where Clause insert the Node Name

Hello,

I will like to add the Node Name or Meta Node or Source Node in a Where Clause Threshold like it is in the Displays.

For exemple:

The records NTFILDIR doesn't content the Node Name field but it is possible to display it when I build a Display of the record. I want to use the Node Name in the Where Clause. Is there a way to add it.

Regard,

Re: Where Clause insert the Node Name

It is also possible to add the Source Node name (extracted from the Nodes to Monitor configuration in the particular Threshold condition) into the alert message, this may help identify where this alert is coming from. Re: Where Clause insert the Node Name

Hi @Alain ,

The Where Clause is only able to use the fields defined in a record, but not the metadata of the data in the table.
This means if the record does not contain the Node Name, IP or other unique identifier within the record, the field is not a viable to the Where Clause.

The reason this record (and several other Windows records in Prognosis) do not contain the Node Name is because the assumption was Prognosis would be running on the Windows machine. This would provide a built in Node Name function by limiting the Threshold to the #CurrentNode.

Options:

  • Run the Threshold locally on each Windows machine and look for the source in the alert message/PROBSUM.
  • Duplicate the NTFILDIR record and include the Node Name as part of the new record.
    - This option will require Professional Services unless Someone in your organization is familiar with custom record creation.
  • There is a Remote Windows Monitoring Platform Extension available. It can use SNMP, Perfmon or WMI to gather data. I'm not sure which fields are available from this Professional Services solution, but it might have the data you need.
    - If you would like to pursue this option, contact the Account Manager directly or let me know and I can reach out to them on your behalf.

Thank you,
Scott Baldwin

Re: Where Clause insert the Node Name

Hi David,

Thank you for your reply, your post is very good.

I'm familiar with System Variables in the message text and I use them in many Thresholds but I tried to use it in the Where Clause to apply a filter for node.
