There are Avaya SIP endpoints (9600,9630) which is registered on the Avaya PBX. Is prognosis able to collect the voice quality information for those endpoints. Are those devices capable to send the voice qulity information like other IP endpoints to Prognosis through the single RTCP config on Avaya PBX (IP address, port 5005, 5 s)
Hi,
yes Avaya SIP endpoints can be configured to provide RTCP data as well by modifying the 46xx settings file. Below is a snippet from our online help. The topic can be in online help under "Prognosis for Unified Communications > Avaya Aura Communication Manager > Configuration > Avaya Setup > Configure RTCP Monitoring > Monitoring SIP Phone Voice Streams"
Monitoring Avaya SIP Phone Voice Streams - Avaya Aura CM
In order to monitor voice stream data for Avaya SIP Phones, the following settings will need to be made in the Avaya 46xxsettings.txt file. These settings will direct voice stream RTCP information to IR Prognosis.
SET RTCPMON <ip_address>
SET RTCPMONPORT "<port_number>"
SET RTCPMONPERIOD <n>
SET RTCPCONT {0|1}
Where:
SET RTCPMON <ip_address>
IP address of the Prognosis Monitoring server.
SET RTCPMONPORT <port_number>
Sets the port used to send RTCP information to the IP address of the Prognosis Monitoring server, as specified in the RTCPMON statement. It is recommended that the default setting of "5005" be used.
SET RTCPMONPERIOD <n>
Specifies the interval for sending out RTCP monitoring reports (5-30 seconds). In this case, the default setting of 5 seconds should be used.
SET RTCPCONT
Specifies if the sending of RTCP is enabled. 0 for 'No' or 1 for 'Yes'. This setting is also applicable for 1603 SIP phones.
Example:
SET RTCPMON 9.22.22.22
SET RTCPMONPORT "5005"
SET RTCPMONPERIOD 5
SET RTCPCONT 1
The SIP phones need to be setup to update from this file on reboot and then the phones rebooted once the 46xxsettings.txt file has been updated and saved.
Hope this helps!
Randy
