How to install a new license key in Prognosis for Microsoft Windows.

When you receive your new license, follow the procedure below.

1. Make a backup of your current license files. Files are located on the Prognosis server in the prognosis\server\configuration directory.
2. Stop the Prognosis Service, stop the Prognosis SFTP Service, Stop the World Wide Web Service.
3. Copy over the new license files.
4. Wait five minutes.
5. Start the Prognosis Service, Start the Prognosis SFTP Service, Start the World Wide Web Service.
6. Test the WEBui.

Note for a Prognosis Server running on the Microsoft Windows platform you will only need to install the file named license.

John, can you clarify which files are required in a Prognosis license, when running in various platforms? For instance, the license releases always include four files, license, licext, licstat and licvar. I know that only one of them (License) is required for Prognosis running on Windows, and 'license' and 'licext' are both required for HP Nonstop, but where are the other two used?

The four lic* files are supplied for backward compatibility. For the 10.x and later versions of Prognosis for UC, you really only require the 'license' file. Prognosis for the NonStop, Unix/Linux platforms may also require the 'licext' file in addition to the 'license' file in order to start/function correctly.

To avoid any potential issues, simply follow the instructions provided in the license email you receive and copy all four files into the configuration directory before you restart Prognosis to pick up the change.
