Re: How to avoid / stop alreting during Maintenance Time window

Hi Partab,

While working with some large customer's, I have seen some of them utilizing the windows firewall on the node to block email (SMTP) and/or SNMP ports during those maintenance sessions. I believe they have the rule set and change it from allow to block.

I encourage you to try this approach and post back here with the results so we know if it is an approach you like.

Re: How to avoid / stop alreting during Maintenance Time window

Hi Partab,

Could you elaborate a little more?
I'm unsure if you are indicating the firewall approach is not suitable.

The other approach I have seen on the prognosis side (And this just covers emails, not snmptrap dispatches) is to configure an extra Dispatch Manager Configuration where the profiles all exist still but go to 1 central email address (Like a spam email).

So you would start the dispman configuration with the spam email set at the start of your maintenance and then start the real one at the end. That can be automated too via ircmd commands too if needed.

Let me know if you have any questions on either approach.
