Cisco UC Mashup recommendations

Hi, New Prognosis User here, using it for monitoring our global Cisco UC infrastructure. Looking for any best practices or suggestions for mashups - so far have created a few - server health, UC calls and licensing.

Hi Michael,

really like your post here and happy to come up with some ideas.

1. Another customer used the mashup feature to combine different gateway T1 card utilizations as they were connected to different providers. With that he was able to locate problems ralated to a specific provider quickly.

2. In my past as a support engineer for Cisco things like DB replication, specific Services and Events (Vendor Alerts) for a kind of health check display. You would be able to check within seconds if DB is ok, no backup issues exists, Webserver is running etc.

Hope there are more ideas to come here

Thanks Stefan, I think I will build a Mashup for each cluster using the replication, memory, cpu charts .. where do you see backup stats?

also how do we enable the Audit trail data?

Hi Michael,

so in regards to backup stats you can use the vendor alerts to check for CiscoDRFFailure which is one event that let's you know a backup could not be written properly. YOu may build a display first with a Where clause filter on that item before you put it into the Mashup.

Hi guys - so far I have seen common interest in

- Phone Registration status ('per site'- but needs consderation as to if/how Region(s) are aligned with sites etc)
- Location Bandwidth/CAC 'exceed' events., i.e. this is where AAR (if configured) re-routes the call via the PSTN - and so as a cost implication the customer may be keen to monitor, especially if it results in an International call cost etc.

Hi Michael,
I recommend the following titles for a "Cluster Failures" mashup that will give a quick overview of most common failures
- All Gateways
- All Trunks
- Transcoder Resource Usage for All Servers
- MTP Resource Usage for All Servers
- Phone Status by Device Pool
- Call Failures Due to lack of Bandwidth (if CAC is implemented)
- Vendor alerts
- Server Health
- Requests (under TFTP)

thanks , great suggestions. Im working on site specific mashups to give local IT people views of their location = t-1 utilization, phone registration, router hardware ad environmental health .. will look at transcoders and DSP resources too.
