Cisco Cluster Monitoring: Data Sources and Required Protocols
Prognosis obtains data from the Cisco Unified Communication Manager via the following interfaces:
• SOAP o AXL SQL o Perfmon • SNMP • SFTP (CDR and CMR file receiving)
AXL SQL data is requested daily. This is the relatively static configuration information (i.e. not the dynamic status information). It is not required to be updated as frequently as the other information, since it is used to determine, for instance, only the “presence” of a device such as a phone or gateway. This information is queried from the Publisher only.
Perfmon is a term carried over from the MS Windows platform. Perfmon data captures real-time status, generally in the form of integral counts, eg Number of Active calls. This information is queried from the Publisher and the Subscribers. MGCP Gateway are queried using Perfmon to the Call Manager.
The Simple Network Management Protocol is used to provide status on many of the devices of the cluster. This information is queried from the Publisher, Subscribers, and non-MGCP Gateways.
CDR and CMR files are transfered/pushed to the Prognosis Monitoring server via SFTP.
CUCM certificates information is retrieved by executing commands.
