Quick question - how does Prognosis collect RTCP statistics in a Cisco envionment for example against a Jabber client?
Is this different from Avaya, where the RTCP is automatically sent from the network region.
I am just trying to understand the differences as my customer is moving to Cisco.

Hello Jonathan_Mc,
Avaya equipment will typically use RTCP streams to provide Voice Quality (QoS) metrics (as you mentioned). Avaya also provides separate CDR streams for CDR data.
Cisco CUCM PBXs generate 2 types of files for call data:
Prognosis combines the CDR and CMR files into a single Prognosis record named CMCALL
This Prognosis Online Help page contains several links detailing the CUCM setup for monitoring by Prognosis: Setup Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
The method to add a CUCM to Prognosis is very different from Avaya Communication Managers. This Prognosis Online Help page contains links for the methods to add a CUCM to Prognosis monitoring: Prognosis Server Configuration for Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
Thank you,
Scott Baldwin

Thanks Scott - this is really useful info
Hi Scott
Are there differences in the QOS metrics you get from Cisco? Do you still see per hop analysis and your markings for each stream? is there a sample screeshot you coudl share to show QOS metrics from a cisco phone?
Does Prognosis support soft clients like jabber?
Thanks again
Hello Jonathan_Mc,
The Voice Quality data from Cisco UCM clusters has a slightly different presentation in Prognosis than Avaya Communication Manager Voice Quality.
The Cisco Voice Quality by Cluster Dashboard includes drilldowns to see calls by MOS grouping and the ability to view individual call data as well.
The CUCM does not provide hop data for calls as part of its Voice Quality metrics.
The CUCM will provide Voice Quality data from Jabber clients with Jabber firmware version 11.5 or 11.7 and higher.
This Prognosis Online Help page shows several Dashboard examples of CUCM call quality Dashboards: Cisco Voice Quality Displays
Bellow is a screen capture of the Voice Quality Dashboard from a single call:
Thank you,
Scott Baldwin
