Can any one please assist whether Prognosis has the ability to monitor the SIP Entities programmed in the Avaya session manager, when that entity goes down, can that trigger a mail alert?
Your suggestion / Procedure will be much appreciated.
Because SIP connections to not require continuous heartbeats, knowing when the connections go down is not built into Prognosis.
Another option is to use a ping to the IP addresses of the SIP Entities from the Session Manager SIP Entity Link list. Although this would not guarantee if the SIP Entity is accepting SIP connections, it would provide basic Up/Down status.
Each SIP Entity IP address would need to be added to the AVAILABILITY configuration. See Prognosis Online Help page: TCPIP Configuration Syntax.
Couldnt you just send the SMGR traps to Prognosis to relay any issues with EL's and let prognosis generate the mail alert for you?

Yes, sending the Session Manager SNMP traps to Prognosis and having Prognosis alert on any Entity Link alerts is a great suggestion!
To support receiving the Session Manager SNMP traps:
I have the SIP trunk Keep alives and monitoring turned ON on the System Manager itself.
from the System Manager dashboard, I can see the SIP Entity status.
under the System Manager, Event, we are also seeing the events are being logged to show it as the SIP trunk is partially UP, down, UP and etc..

The Prognosis License will need to be checked to see if it contains the SNM (SNMP Traps In) License Code. The License is found in the \Prognosis\Server\Configuration directory.
The screen capture does show the status of the one of the SIP Entities going down and then going back up. This data is from the System/Session Manager Web UI, but is not part of the data Prognosis gathers from its active outbound SNMP queries.
If the messages from the screen capture are sent to Prognosis as SNMP traps, Prognosis could be configured to look for specific text string(s) indicating a SIP Entity is Down, then Prognosis could alert on those messages.
This process would require some customization of Prognosis. If the Prognosis Online Help links do not provide enough information, contacting the Account Manager for help from Professional Services to perform the customizations would be the next step.
