Avaya IP Phones not reporting hop count properly
Cause:
Avaya IP Phones running on the Avaya Super Patch 6.x such as 96xx models are not reporting hop count properly in Prognosis because the traceroute command is not executed by the telephone firmware.
Affected Phone Firmware Versions: IP Phones on firmware 6.x will be affected (Any IP Phone type running the Avaya Super Patch – H323 Phones) I.e 96xx models.
Solution: The currently open tickets at Avaya for this are “H32396X1-6224/H32396X1-6592” (Avaya internal trouble ticket numbers). The recently available Avaya Super Patch Release 6.2.2 does not fix this problem. Indications from Avaya is that the problem was fixed by firmware patch H.323 6.2 SP3.
